West Cork
The Gulf Stream brings a mild climate. This along with the variety of terrain; coastal cliffs, grassy fields, bogland, wooded areas, rivers, lakes, etc.; gives West Cork the most interesting collection of native flora and fauna.
The Coast of County Cork Ireland, West Cork in particular, is dotted with harbours that are villages rich in history, culture and activity. West Cork has more harbours along the coast than any other part of Ireland. Courtmacsherry is a popular port. The sea is a great influence to this town, home of a very active RNLI lifeboat station.
West Cork provides the best in dining and entertainment. The local restaurants make use of the wonderful local produce: seafood, beef, vegetables, cheeses and more. Many pubs have music nightly in the Summer and on weekend the rest of the year.
Courtmacsherry
Courtmacsherry is a charming village with some excellent restaurants, a hotel which also caters for non residents and several very good pubs offering live music. An impressive range of quality Irish craft products are available at the craft shop and locally made ceramics and porcelain at the ceramic shop. There is also a small village shop which supplies most needs.Clonakilty
Some 2 Kms south of Lislee is Barryroe with its Co-operative Supermarket and Hardware Store, Parish Church and Foodstore. There are two routes to Clonakilty from Lislee House, one being the scenic route by way of Butlerstown and Dunworley with its excellent beaches and wild scenery. Clonakilty has many features of interest with its Model Village, Animal Park, Museum and full range of shops, restaurants and pubs.Timoleague
Timoleague is known for its ruins: the famous Franciscan Abbey and the nearby Norman Castle, home to superb gardens. The town is also home to friendly pubs, restaurants & shops.
